One Sunday evening after visiting my mother in Opelika, Alabama, I traveled to Lafayette, Alabama to visit my only living grandfather at the time. I observed grandfather as he gazed out the window. At that moment, I realized how much we owed our grandparents and ancestors for having the will and spiritual strength from the Creator to survive the most vicious and evil enslavement of our ancestors around the world inflicted upon us by Europeans. The painting was created in remembrance of my grandfather, Claude Calloway.
