During my attendance in graduate school at Florida State University between 1987 and 1989, there was this fascinating decorative house own by an elderly couple that I passed by occasionally on my way to eat at a restaurant or visit friends at Florida A&M University. One day, I stopped by their place and asked them if I could take pictures of them to create an artwork dedicated to them. I am so happy they allowed me to do so. The wife told me that she and her husband to send their kids to college by her washing clothes of Caucasians and her husband collected bottles and other things to sell. It was an amazing story. This pen and ink drawing was created before the screen print.
